The Saboteur

I've mentioned before that I'm a video game addict, but it's rare that I find games that fit the theme of this blog, so I like to pass on the recommendations when I do. Over the holidays I rented the newly released "The Saboteur" from EA Games. Loads of fun, killing nazis is always fun but World War 2 games have started becoming a little predictable lately. The Saboteur goes in a refreshing direction.
Taking place in occupied France in 1940, you play as Sean Devlin, an Irish mechanic turned race car driver who gets caught up in the cause of the French resistance.
I'm guessing that they used the same engine as Grand Theft Auto, it plays exactly like GTA, third person, you can yank people out of cars and steal them etc. There is a nice selection of vintage autos to drive around, some great racing action and you live in the back of a burlesque house, and you can download special "adult content"
The game has a really interesting noir look at first. Everything is Black and White at first (representing nazi oppression) with little stabs of colour. When you liberate an area of the city, the sky opens up and the sun brings everything into bright colour. I only rented the game and didn't have it long enough to get any good screenshots, so here are a few I scooped from other sites, and a pretty cool trailer. Although they added a Flogging Molly song in the trailer, for actions sake I guess. It doesn't do it justice. Throughout the game there is only period jazz playing or noir-esque film score tunes.
Check it out, I think it's worth buying this one.

You Like Me...You Really Like Me!

I must apologize for my lack of posting since the holidaze - emphasis on daze, it's been a weird few weeks, but I opened my email today to find out that I had received an award from my friend the Toe stubber, who is normally a shunner of internet style awards. Well...thank you, I've never gotten an award before save for a low score of the year bowling trophy...not something to brag about really, but there you go.

This award is the "One Lovely Blog Award" and the rule is that I'm supposed to pass this award along to 15 other blogs that, to my knowledge haven't received it yet, and are...lovely? Ok, here goes. I honestly don't surf blogs that much but there are a few that have really got my interest in the last few years.

7. Martian Shaker (defunct for a long time now, but still lots of cool stuff to see there.)

Ok, they may not all be "lovely" but there's some cool stuff and or good readin' at all of them.
